As Chair of Climate Action Strathaven I am delighted to help make positive changes in our community. I'm passionate about tackling the climate crisis, and creating a sustainable future for our children.
As the Climate Action Strathaven Secretary I am working with all of Strathaven to ensure all children and grandchildren have a sustainable future to look forward to, whilst endeavouring to retain a sense of humour.
I’m just an ordinary person who’s trying to change the way I do things to minimise the impact I make on the environment. But communities working together can do so much more! As a scientist by training, and now working broadly in science and innovation, I am pleased to contribute whatever useful help and perspectives I can to CAS’ projects.
Having become a trustee at a national level with Circular Communities Scotland and buoyed by the growing public interest in climate change and sustainability generally I joined CAS to make a positive impact in my local community and help broaden CAS's influence.
After 35 years in IT Management roles and completing an MBA at the University of Glasgow I took early retirement in 2015 to concentrate on my landscape photography business. I became a partner in ML10 Media in 2016, taking over the ownership and running of Strathaven Echoes until September 2023. I am also a director of Creative Strathaven & Frets Creative as well as Avondale Radio where I am also a presenter. I was delighted to be asked to become a trustee of CAS in June 2023.
I’ve always had a keen interest in our environment and outdoor spaces. I studied countryside management at university to learn more. I’ve since returned to education and qualified as a therapist, I run a practice from the upper hub at Climate Action Strathaven where I see anxiety caused by the climate emergency. I saw all the work in the community that CAS do and so wanted get involved when I was approached.
