I'm driving forward the Avondale Cargo Club to bring zero emission delivery solutions to our local businesses. Less vehicles on our roads will make it easier for people to cycle around our streets again.

As the Climate Action Strathaven Secretary I am working with all of Strathaven to ensure all children and grandchildren have a sustainable future to look forward to, whilst endeavouring to retain a sense of humour.

Rachael Wakefield

I joined Climate Action Strathaven in October 2019 because I was concerned about global warming and wanted to help do something about it.  Early in 2020 I became a Trustee and have seen CAS go from strength to strength in raising awareness of climate change through various community initiatives. What has been achieved so far is really remarkable! I am retired with three grandchildren and I'm very concerned about what kind of  world they are going to inherit if the global community doesn't act fast enough.

I’m just an ordinary person who’s trying to change the way I do things to minimise the impact I make on the environment. But communities working together can do so much more!  As a scientist by training, and now working broadly in science and innovation, I am pleased to contribute whatever useful help and perspectives I can to CAS’ projects.

Having become a trustee at a national level with Circular Communities Scotland and buoyed by the growing public interest in climate change and sustainability generally I joined CAS to make a positive impact in my local community and help broaden CAS's influence.
